Electric Car Charger Options

If you’re wondering about an electric car charger in your area, there’s a decent number of options around Omaha, NE and surrounding areas and this number is only projected to grow with time. You’ll be able to charge your vehicle at home by using an installed charging system or available power outlet. Here are your three charging options:

  • Domestic home outlet charging (Level 1): This is just the standard outlet that you plug all your regular stuff into. It’s only 110 or 120 volts, however, which means that you’re likely going to only get a few miles of charge each hour. It could take several days to fully charge your EV.
  • Installed brand-approved domestic charging (Level 2): This is something that an electrician installs in your house that’s got 220 or 240 volts. You’ll have to have your wiring checked to see if it can handle this, but if it can, you can charge any EV to full capacity overnight.
  • DC Fast Charging (Level 3): This is 600 or 800 volts and can only be found on the go, but it offers vastly quicker charge times. Lots of models can get 100 miles of charge in roughly half an hour, perfect for your weekly grocery run.

Are Electric Car Charging Stations Free?

Only some electric car charging stations are free, while others, you’ll have to pay for. Even if you have to pay, you can expect to pay roughly a third of what you’d pay for an equivalent gasoline fill up. We estimate that on average, you’ll pay around $7 to fully charge your vehicle when you’re out on the town.
